2001 Regulation Hand Book

INTRODUCTION

The objectives for which The Hong Kong Association of Private Practice Optometrists (HKAPPO) was established are essentially to promote optometry and to protect the interests of our members against unfair competitions. Members of HKAPPO are distinguished optometrists. By practising ethically and professionally to the highest standard, the importance of optometry in the provision of eye care will be recognized. We can also set a good example for other colleagues in the optometric profession. The Disciplinary & Regulations Committee (DRC) was formed to help bring this vision into reality.

To accomplish this difficult mission, members’ participation and co-operation are extremely essential. In this handbook, we are inviting our members to share this common vision and to comply with the guidelines which are intended to help our members to practise freely, smoothly, efficiently and professionally while maintaining a highly competitive environment for better services and financial return.

Formation of the DRC is neither to restrict nor to trap our members. “Punishment” would only be our last course of action. We hope that all members would support the DRC so that we will all move ahead in big successful steps.
